The G.O.R.D. Principles
Universities nationwide are experiencing a significant amount of high-risk alcohol use. The G.O.R.D initiative is setup to combat this issue and create an awareness of how high-risk alcohol use can be dangerous in any social setting. Efforts to create an environment of abstinence will be unrealistic in a modern college campus. Rather, we are more effective by educating fellow students on the risks involved with drinking and instilling values to use alcohol conservatively and responsibly.
G.O.R.D’s objectives are:
- Spread and teach alcohol risk awareness
- Alcohol poisoning
- Hard alcohol abuse
- Responsible drinking practices
- Reduce unintentional and accidental risk
- Help people be aware in their social surroundings
- Preventing people from excessive drinking
- Know the signs of alcohol poisoning
- Educate others on how to help individuals in need
- Educate fellow students on the presented issues
- Begin by marketing to University of Colorado students
- Sponsor alcohol awareness programs
- Seek Greek system support for alcohol awareness
- Develop university faculty and administration as a resource
- Create national alliance with Chi Psi chapters
